How full is your closet with linens you don’t use? Maybe you have a soft blanket but it’s stained, or a high-quality percale sheet that’s fraying. You think you should keep it, and suddenly your storage is stuffed.
Here’s my professional organizer’s tip for what to do with old linens: donate them to Animal Rescue Centers. Muttville and Family Dog Rescue love seeing me. I bring them old bath towels, blankets, sheets, dish towels and rags that my clients are ready to liberate. My clients like the solution because it feels good to give a dog or cat something snuggly! I’ve never heard a dog or cat complain about a threadbare blanket.
Contact these San Francisco animal adoption centers before dropping off anything. Their hours can be irregular, and they may not need what you have to offer. Most don’t take bottom sheets or pillows. All need to be clean.
